My sessions can come in a few different flavours:
There’s no question working regularly with a coach in person is the best way to train. Whether you need someone to guide you through the very basics or want to work on technique or conditioning for an event, training with me in person means direct feedback during sessions, support when things are difficult and plenty of high fives (if they’re your thing).
I’ve seen clients go from hiding in corners of the gym to taking up the space they’ve always deserved whenever they need it. One client was so self-conscious they used to warm up in the changing rooms. Now, they walk into any gym like they own the place.
Sometimes, exercise with a friend is even more fun, and that’s why I offer small group sessions for two people who want to train together and save some money at the same time! It’s best if you have similar goals, but sessions are adaptable for different levels of ability.
My max limit for Buddy PT is two households for a maximum of four people.
When the pandemic hit us, I offered my established clients online PT sessions via video (usually Zoom), like many other Coaches. To my surprise, I’ve found that video sessions can be very effective and are a great way to train from home with the equipment you have available.
The people I see regularly have said it’s been very helpful for them to maintain a weekly schedule of sessions during lockdown, and they know I will challenge them even if they don’t have a single piece of gym equipment at home!
If you are trans, queer, disabled, plus-sized, Black or POC, live in Scotland and you are considering going into the Fitness industry yourself, I would love to help you. I can provide insight into my own experiences working for different types of gyms as well as answering questions you have about the business and even help with preparing for your assessments, etc.
Please get in touch if this is interesting to you.
I provide training for individuals and organisations on how to provide trans members and clients with a safer and more welcoming space. This could come in the form of simple meetings to discuss specific needs or longer form training days to give a more thorough understanding of how gyms often fail trans people and what you can do to be a place we feel comfortable working out in.
If you represent a gym or other sports/ movement space and you’d like to discuss your needs and my rates, please get in touch.
Many Personal Trainers offer what’s known as “Online Coaching”, which ranges from buying pre-made plans to bespoke training plans with regular online check-ins. I used to offer online coaching as a natural way to keep my services affordable and accessible, but I have since decided to focus my energy on direct coaching in 1 to 1 sessions.
When it’s safe, I train my in-person clients at The Club Edinburgh at 44 West Bowling Green Street in Edinburgh, Scotland (what3words: cowboy.theme.organ) You do not need a membership to train with me there, though if you live in the area, it’s a very friendly and welcoming gym to be doing your sessions through the week, and you’d probably run into me as well!
